Generating knowledge has always been the focus of scientists yet dissemination
of research results has proved difficult and inadequate. With the rapid
increase in technology comes the opportunity to provide increased tools
for exploration of scientific endeavours.
Reef Futures is a collaborative project funded by CRC Reef. This program
facilitates synthesis, communication and information exchange among CRC
Reef's partners and with interested outside parties. Its objective is
to ensure that technology and knowledge developed under CRC Reef and all
other relevant programs is utilised by industry, managers and the community
to ensure benefits available from the Great Barrier Reef are maintained
for current and future generations.
One of the outcomes of this program is the Reef
Futures website, which is designed to provide interactive
mapping and information on issues such as coral bleaching and water quality
monitoring.
