PROJECT 1.2: HYDRODYNAMICS AND DISPERSAL

The Centre provided support for joint AIMS and JCU oceanographic
deployments, hydrodynamic modelling, and larval fish dispersal studies.
Major AIMS outputs achieved with CRC support were a well calibrated hindcast
record of longshore currents over the period 1975-1990, and sorting and
analysis of larval fish collections caught in a cross-GBR series of traps.
The JCU hydrodynamic models particle tracking models were improved with
a view to predicting the sources and sinks of larval fish of known planktonic
durations.
