Objective
The improvement of engineering practices for the design, construction
and operation of reef facilities and coastal development infrastructure.
To meet this, a range of engineering tasks has been established to provide
management agencies, private developers and engineering consultants with
guidelines to improve safety, minimise impacts and understand the effects
of various engineering developments in the Great Barrier Reef. Program
leadership was taken up by Dr Tom Hardy in early 1997 following Prof Johnston's
move to another position in South Australia.
