North Queensland's unique environment attracts scientists from all over the world, and has made Townsville a world-leading centre for tropical science.

Every Wednesday morning at 9.40, you can hear scientists based in North Queensland talk about their research, both in the local area and as far away as India and China.

Scientists from the Australian Institute of Marine Science, CRC for Predictive Mineral Discovery, CRC Reef, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, James Cook University, Marine & Coastal Community Network, Museum of Tropical Queensland, Queensland Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries, Townsville Hospital and Tropical Savannas CRC explain their work in areas as diverse as heritage preservation and cyclone modelling.

And if you miss the interview on the radio, you can hear it, and find more information, on the ABC's Science on the Radio website.
